So Be It

Let The Bullshit Go, But Don't Give Up

Many critics argue that large corporate interests exert outsized influence over both major political parties through lobbying, campaign financing, and the revolving door between government and industry. They contend that this influence can shape policy decisions in ways that prioritize profit and geopolitical strategy over the well-being of ordinary citizens. Some point to military interventions as examples where the human costs are borne disproportionately by service members and their families, while the benefits are less evenly distributed. Others argue that certain economic and regulatory policies like those affecting healthcare, wages, or financial systems can leave average Americans feeling worse off despite broader claims of growth. Taken together, this perspective suggests a growing disconnect between institutional decision-making and the everyday experiences of the public.

Only So Many Hours In a Day

People spend hours each day consuming a nonstop stream of breaking news, outrage, and crisis, often without realizing the toll it takes on their mental state. The constant exposure creates a sense that everything is urgent, everything is dire, and everything demands emotional investment. Over time, this cycle can leave people feeling anxious, angry, and powerless, even when little of it directly affects their daily lives. The more attention they give it, the more it reinforces itself, turning awareness into habit and habit into dependency. In the end, what feels like staying informed can quietly become a source of ongoing stress and unhappiness.

I Proclaim: So Be It

The question must be asked then, "In what way do I or anyone else really benefit from this?" Your time on this Earth is limited. The challenges of life are constant. The answer seems to me not to bury my head in the sand, but to also not marry myself to a set of political or socioeconomic outcomes. To put it briefly, while I do care what happens, I refuse to allow it to control me. Whatever they decide to do against the desires of the American public, so be it!
